Curcumin nanoparticles show promise in preventing corneal disease

A leading cause for compromised vision, corneal neovascularisation, is reduced by treatment with curcumin nanoparticles instilled directly into the eye, promising new research shows. According to the study authors, from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkota India, the topical delivery of curcumin nanoparticle in the eye resulted in enhanced retention of curcumin in the cornea, and significant improvement in prevention of corneal neovascularisation over free curcumin.
