Impacting up to 40 million tourists every year, traveller’s diarrhoea (TD) is a common experience.Men and women are affected equally at a rate of up to 70%, depending on the place and the season of travel.1 International travellers to regions with inadequate sanitation and hygiene standards are most heavily affected, with Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia considered high-risk areas.1

TD commonly manifests within the first days of contact with a pathogen and typically resolves itself within a few days.2 In addition to diarrhoea, symptoms include abdominal bloating, cramps and pain, nausea, mild temperature, weakness, and fatigue.3
